2004 Volvo V70R Gray market Wagon
Charcoal gray with the Nordcap blue leather interior.
This car is a Gray market vehicle, meaning, out of the1565 or so V70R’s that Volvo exported to the Unites States in 2004, this isn’t one of them.
The wagon was purchased new in Sweden and lived in Germany until late 2017 when it was imported to Georgia (near Atlanta) and then brought to Florida a few months later. It still has the Autobahn use authorization decal in the front window.
It now has a valid Florida title just like any other U.S. vehicle, I had no issues with putting it in my name, you won’t have any either.
The car had some go fast stuff installed while in Europe, I don’t know much about what was done, but from what I was told by the previous owner, the block was shimmed, the turbo was replaced with a larger one and some other components to eliminate turbo lag were installed. I have no paper trail for the above mentioned work. Just relating what the previous owner mentioned.
Supposedly, she’s pushing about 380hp, but I’ve never had it on a dyno, so I can’t confirm.
The exhaust has been re-worked for better flow, more of a duel exhaust setup now. The car sounds fast.
This is my 2
nd
VR, both were 2004s. The other one was stock, this one is very noticeably quicker.
The transmission was replaced 5k miles ago.
Timing belt and all associated components, rear main and front crank seals, motor mounts, valve cover gasket, belts and hoses were replaced at the same time. It has new fuel injectors and the brakes are relativity new. The above services were completed in the states and receipts are included.
Tires (matching set of Coopers) have less than 1k miles on them.
Car has a fantastic sound system, Volvo amps and subwoofer in the rear and Kenwood DDX375BT touch screen Bluetooth stereo installed in the dash. The steering wheel controls unfortunately do not operate the Kenwood stereo system.
The body is in nice shape with a few expected scratches, chips and dings, nothing major.
The leather interior (Nordcap) is nice as well, no holes or splitting, but the color has faded on the front seats from use. Carpet is in good shape, still has the original floor mats. The headliner is about a year old.
The dash leather stitched cover over the instrument cluster (I believe, unique to the R) has opened up at the stitching.
Additional options:
Fold-in side view mirrors, which are handy in the garage.
Dog Gate option, also useful for brat nephews.
Roof mounted sport racks, includes roof-rack mounted bike rack (not pictured).
Trailer hitch, it’s small, I think it’s a 1 ¼” receiver, not sure, never pulled anything with the car.
There are 2 known mechanical type issues with the wagon.
1.
The sunroof when closed automatically will close and open again in vent mode (lifted in back to allow a small amount of air in). I had the sunroof motor replaced about a year ago, it started doing this right after. It still closes fine, I just don’t use the hands-free option.
2.
The dash message screen states “Chassis system maintenance required”.
The car needs a suspension module (part #3048080 according to the shop) for the 4C adjustable suspension system to be adjustable. The module is mounted on the left inside of the center console and is easy to access. Currently, the car is always in sport mode, which I liked anyway. I was eventually going to have coil-overs installed, so I never bothered to replace the module.
Car has both (2) original R key/key-fobs and R owners manual and case with when new service records (mostly in German).
I have a Car-fax for it, but the first record is in 12/2017 when it was brought to the States.
Car has 238k miles, it’s been well maintained and cared for.
The Florida title is clean/clear and in my name.
Any questions, or if somewhat local and would like to see the car prior to bidding, just shoot me an email and we’ll work it out.
