This is an original Department of Defense “FALLOUT SHELTER” surplus sign from an original box dated 1962. Also included is an original “CAPACITY” and number stickers that were intended to be stuck onto the appropriate sign to designate the beginning of the safe area.

This is the type FS No. 2 sign. It is a galvanized steel sign used as an interior or exterior of buildings designated as suitable fallout shelters.

The sign is NOS (New Old Stock) government surplus stored in a box for decades, likely in a dank basement.

The signs measures about 10″ wide and 14″ high.

The yellow is a highly reflective paint.

Also included is an original “CAPACITY” and number stickers taken from the same box that were intended to be stuck onto the bottom of the sign to designate the beginning of the safe area.
This is the type FS No. 2 sign. It is a galvanized steel sign used as for the interior or exterior of buildings designated as suitable fallout shelters.
The sign is NOS (New Old Stock) government surplus stored in a box for decades, likely in a dank basement.
The sign measures about 10″ wide and 14″ high.
The yellow is a highly reflective paint.
The signs were stored in the original unopened box.  The paper separating each sign has stained the sign over the years and removed some paint, giving the signs a bit of a salty look.  The “CAPACITY” and number stickers may not stick anymore.   Check out the pictures to view the condition of the actual sign you will receive.
