DESCRIPTION:
Offered for auction is a vintage Pinchbeck rolled gold brooch. It features a bar shape with a space for monogram (no monogram). It is marked R on the back. Pinchbeck gold is an alloy when they tried to make gold through alchemy in the 1600’s and then fell from favor in the mid 1800’s. It is extra shiny and is also called “rolled” as the fronts are usually Pinchbeck and the backs are gold-tone. See close-ups.
