Rare and original, ca1918 Large and Heavy Iron Registering / Recording Mechanical Bank in the form of a Bank Building Facade. This massive Bank is titled “The Automatic Receiving Teller” and was manufactured by The Automatic Banking Machine Corporation of Saginaw, Michigan.
This wonderful, Coin Operated Banking Machine / Bank measures approx. 14” tall and 13” by 6” at the base. It weighs a whopping 20lbs. The Bank is made of heavy gauge sheet metal (attracts a magnet) and features a bright, nickel plated surface. The surface is beautifully decorated with the front panel featuring an image of the facade of a bank building. There are slots for depositing coins into the machine and slots that would dispense “saving stamps” equal to the denomination of the coin deposited. There is a blank area above the door of the “Bank Building” where the actual Bank using this Machine could add their name. The bottom front of the Bank displays numerous patent dates the latest being September 1918 as well as a manufacturers plate that identifies this Machine as “No. 7660”. There are holes on the back of the case that would allow the Bank to be hung on a wall.
This Automatic Receiving Teller machine is basically a rather complex form of a Registering / Recording Bank with a rather complex mechanism. Pennies, Nickles, Dimes and Quarters are deposited in the appropriate slot and the teller machine would keep track of the total by dispensing stamps of the appropriate denomination that were subsequently pasted in a book as a form of record. We believe that this Machine would be hung on the wall at a Bank and customers could deposit change in the Machine and paste the stamps that they receive into a booklet similar to a Christmas Club booklet. The customer could collect the stamps and eventually redeem the booklet and receive the value of the stamps pasted in the booklet in cash.
This very rare and original, Automatic Receiving Teller Registering Bank is in very good to excellent condition. It 100% original and has never been repaired, restored or altered in any way. The nickel plated surface is well preserved with darkening to some panels but no surface loss. The mechanism is in excellent working condition. It retains approx. There are no crack, breaks, chips, repairs or physical damage of any kind. Please see the scans below for a good representation of the form and condition of this beautiful Coin-Op Machine / Registering Bank.

Important Notes about Shipping Charges:
The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by eBay and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 “packing fee” – the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing – as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
