Selling my 2004 Volvo V70R; I bought this thinking I was going to do a full restoration on it, however, some changes in my worklife have kept me from having any significant shop time, so, after nearly a year with barely any further progress and driving the car a total of maybe 400 miles, I decided to sell this… I looked hard for a suitable car when I shopped this one, it is a well documented, well maintained and cared-for example.
The car is what I would describe as a very nice “survivor” – runs strong and drives beautifully, shifts perfectly, doesn’t leak, smoke, no check-engine or other warning lights etc. Always well serviced and includes a pile of service records, and even includes the factory window sticker from when it was new.
The car is all stock except for a pretty new set of custom adjustable BC Racing coil-overs on all four corners. Also there is an overhead DVD player in the backseat, by the look of the install and trim, i think this may have been a dealer installed option. Has a set of Michelin Premier a/s tires with probably about 60% left.
Timing belt service was just completed, new Denso iridium plugs, new battery, new brake pads and front rotors, injectors rebuilt, and a couple hoses have been replaced since I’ve owned it, also did compression and leak-down tests which it passed with flying colors. Passes “glove test” for PCV system.   A new right drive axle, front wheel bearings, lower control arms and bushings, rear sway bar links, four-wheel alignment, a complete Transmission service and more have been done in the last 20,000 miles or so.
While the mileage is “up there” a bit, the car does not show its age or mileage. Certainly there are the expected stone chips and small surface scratches one would reasonably expect on a 100,000+ car, but this vehicle has obviously been lovingly cared for throughout its life. Car includes the factory roof-rail kit and 2 Volvo cross rails and factory removal/adjustment tool. All of the door and window seals are intact, and supple, and unbroken, except for the decorative rubber trim on either side of the windshield.
The following six items are issues I am aware of and have not addressed:
1- The sunroof does not operate, had a CEM code for the sunroof module, I purchased one it has not been installed – also the interior sunroof slide seems to be stuck about half-way open – it does not leak and the drains work so it has not been a priority for me.
2 – The right front fog lamp lens and light socket is completely missing. The grill panel has a shoddy looking crack repair below the headlight and a pretty good scrape on the lower valance. (It would appear that a good parking stop collision caused all of this – see pics).
3-There is a fair amount of stone chips and scrapes on the bottom lip of the grill and a good ding/gouge on the tailgate. Looks as if it was “keyed” a little behind the fuel fill door.
4-The parking brake ratchet mechanism does not function.
5- As there is no subscription for Volvo on-call service, that message appears when starting the car, but clears with a button push. That’s all I’m aware of, if I think of anything else that needs to be mentioned, I will add it here.
6- A couple of the coil-pack connectors have the lock-tabs which are broken or weak and some “diy-looking” temp repairs done – they have functioned just fine, but I did purchase new pigtail connectors for them which are included with the sale.
Opening bid money is less than I have “out-of-pocket” therefore represents my “bottom dollar” I would accept – (and a good deal less than what many comparable vehicles are selling for) so I will not acknowledge any lower offers.
I have done my best to provide clear photos and a very detailed complete and honest description – Feel free to ask any questions you may have or if there is something that is not clear or you are curious about, again, just ask! But please, understand, you need to ask before bidding – Sale is final.  I have a clean, clear title in-hand, it’s ready to go to it’s new owner! Not interested in trades or ridiculous low-ball offers.
The car is located in Northeastern Tennessee (near Bristol) and buyer is responsible for pick-up within 21 days of end of auction unless other arrangements are made in advance. I’d consider driving it to you for delivery within a few hundred miles for an additional fee – contact me ahead of auction close for details. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of close of auction. Balance must be paid in full with cash in-person; ACH or wire transfer prior to me releasing the vehicle, this is not negotiable.
FYI- I will be out of town from the afternoon of Sept 2nd through the morning of the 7th so I can not deliver or be available for pickup on these dates.
