This listing is for an antique French circa 1830s or so silver plated metal and hand painted enamel chatelaine with tassels and powder horn enameled charm. The chatelaine measures 11 inches or 27 cm long and weighs 38.4 grams. I tested this for sterling but it does not test silver.

This unique chatelaine has a large spring ring clasp on one side and a hook on the other. This connects to the open ring chain which is further enhanced with dangling tear drops and three hanging chains in between the links. There are two open work panels which have a gilt metal floral decoration, unfortunately one floral panel is missing. Near the spring clasp is a hand enameled powder horn shaped large charm that is also hand chased with foliate patterns. It is decorated on both sides. The horn measures 35 mm long. There are no markings as to maker on this piece. I am dating it to around 1830-1840’s as it closely matches a previous one I sold a few weeks back and came from the same estate. That had French hallmarks on it but again, this one is unmarked. This is a handsome antique chatelaine.

The condition is as follows; there is some minor flaking to the enameling on the powder horn charm and one gilt floral panel is missing.
